The Games are over, business is back in the sports movement. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has announced the extension of a partnership agreement for 2024. It concerns World Table Tennis (WTT), its commercial and events arm. And, unsurprisingly, involves a Chinese sponsor. The Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) and World Table Tennis (WTT), partners since 2019, are extending their agreement for the 2024 season, or at least what is left of it. The two parties had launched a joint initiative before the Tokyo 2020 Games, “finance + sports”, a subtle blend of sports sponsorship and financial services. For the current year, the Chinese bank will partner the WTT series events, including the WTT Champions in Macau (September 9-15) and Frankfurt, and then the WTT Finals in Fukuoka. ABC will provide financial services to athletes, fans and participants throughout the competition, including special promotions and interactive experiences.
