Chess prodigy campaigns to be at the Olympics

Olympics 2036

Which disciplines will be favoured at the next Olympic Games? Paris had chosen breaking, climbing, skateboarding and surfing. Los Angeles has bet on cricket, squash, flag football, baseball/softball and lacrosse. Anything is possible for Brisbane 2032, and even more so for 2036, whose host country has not been designated. While India refines its application file, chess prodigy Dommaraju Gukesh has sent a message that is sure to be heard. He has become the youngest world champion in the discipline in December, at just 18 years old. And he could see himself under the Olympic spotlight in eleven years, at home. « I would love for chess to be part of the Olympics, especially if they take place in India, Gukesh was quoted as saying by news agency PTI. I think chess has great popularity and support. I am very happy about that, and the Olympics would help to move up a gear » The campaign has only just begun.
