Brussels supports Platini

UEFA

Michel Platini can rub his hands. On Thursday April 3, he obtained support from Brussels for the principles of financial fair play, one of his battle plans against the economic abuses of football. The UEFA president met with the European Commissioner for Competition, Joaquin Almunia. And obtained frank and massive support from him. “I am very happy with Mr. Almunia’s support for UEFA’s work in implementing financial fair play,” explained Michel Platini. And I am particularly pleased to see that discussions on these issues of common interest have already moved forward.” Financial fair play is entering a crucial phase. Clubs are now required to present balanced accounts – within a certain range – and those who do not respect this principle face sanctions. UEFA must unveil the clubs thus threatened at the end of April.
