Bayern commits to Munich bid

Germany

Munich can count on a powerful ally in its Olympic campaign. Bayern, the city's iconic football club, has publicly committed to a bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic GamesHe released a clip featuring football stars like Serge Gnabry, Joshua Kimmich and world champion Manuel Neuer to praise the interest of such a project. On Saturday, before kick-off of the clash against Dortmund, the team's players also posed behind a banner "United for Munich!".

The timing is good: the referendum on Munich's candidacy is held until Sunday. A promotional stand dedicated to the campaign was installed on the esplanade in front of the stadium on Saturday, and the message was replayed during the women's team's match. The club also urged some 15.000 people in its Bavarian community to vote yes by email.

« The Olympic and Paralympic Games are a source of inspiration and a catalyst for sustainable progress beyond sport, supports Herbert Hainer, president of Bayern. They offer our young people new role models and new dreams. It would be the second Olympic Games in Munich and the first Paralympic Games, which not only means outstanding sporting performance, but also an important signal for greater visibility on the issue of inclusion and a vote in favor of accessibility in sports facilities and residential areas. That is why we at FC Bayern support the candidacy and say, with Munich, Olympi-Ja! »
