Avicii honored at the Ice Hockey World Championships

The upcoming Ice Hockey World Championships will pay a vibrant tribute to Avicii. The Swedish artist, who died in 2018 at only 28 years old, will be the central character of the tournament opening ceremony on May 9 in Stockholm, in the Avicii Arena, renamed in 2021. His hit Levels, which has been streamed over 1,5 billion times since its release in 2011, has been chosen as official song of these World Championships. Several of his other iconic titles will be performed during the ceremony.

"Opening the 2025 Ice Hockey World Championship in an arena named after Avicii and featuring Levels as the official song is a great honor for us. Avicii is not only one of the greatest music creators of our time, he is also a unique symbol of Sweden. His music has a pulse and power that goes straight to the heart, and we know it is already deeply appreciated by players and fans alike.", underlines Tony Wiréhn, general director of the competition.
