Austria and Norway share the World Championships

Biathlon

Meeting last weekend in Belgrade, the International Biathlon Union (IBU) congress not only decided to increase the prize money distributed on the World Cup circuit and modify the starting rules in individual events. The body also awarded two successive editions of the biathlon world championships at once. The first, in 2028, will take place in the Austrian resort of Hochfilzen. The following year, the World Championships will remain in Europe, with the IBU having entrusted the organization to Oslo (Norway), where the competitions will be held on the Holmenkollen site. The Finns of Kontiolathi had also submitted an application. The next two World Championships will take place in Lenzerheide (Switzerland) in 2025, then in Otepää (Estonia) in 2027.
