Australian Olympic Committee changes CEO ahead of Brisbane 2032

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) is recruiting Mark Arbib as new CEO. Member of the AOC executive committee since 2016, Arbib is at the heart of the reactor since he chairs the AOC Brisbane 2032 Impact and Legacy CommitteeHe can draw on extensive experience, from his past as Federal Minister of Sports (2010-2012) and President of the Australian Athletics Federation (2015-2021). "Mark's experience in the Australian sporting landscape is broad and deep, but in addition to these credentials, he brings a proven passion for the Olympic Movement, our sports and our athletes, justified Ian Chesterman, president of the AOC. Mark Arbib will officially succeed Matt Carroll in May, after the AOC General Assembly. Ian Chesterman also paid tribute to the man who has held the position for eight years: “Matt has been an incredible leader for the AOC, having overseen significant cultural and operational reformsHe should also be very proud of the performances of the Australian Olympic teams at Pyeongchang 2018, Tokyo 2020, Beijing 2022 and, of course, Paris 2024. We thank Matt for his incredible service and stewardship of the Olympic Movement in Australia, and we will forever be grateful for his leadership.”
