Australia is wasting no time. With the Paris 2024 Games now behind it, its National Olympic Committee (AOC) has already ticked an important box on its roadmap to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games. It has appointed its Chef de Mission. The chosen one is a woman, a double Olympic medallist: Alisa Camplin-Warner (pictured above). A gold medallist in freestyle skiing, in the aerials event, at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002, then a bronze medallist four years later in Turin, she will be the first female Chef de Mission for the Australian team at a Winter Games. She has already been Deputy Chef de Mission at the Beijing 2022 Games. Aged 49, Alisa Camplin-Warner sits on the AOC Executive Committee, where she chairs the Audit and Risk Committee.
