Archery tests new targets to improve spectator experience

World Games

The targets used in archery will not be the usual colors in Chengdu. The black part of the targets will be teal (blue-green) for the field shooting competitions at the World Games this summer (August 7-17). The yellow part will not be changed. This will make the arrows easier to spot for spectators and on television, justifies World Archery. It was difficult to spot the impact of the arrows on the black target, both on the field and on broadcast. »

This adjustment will be particularly relevant. in low light conditions, while maintaining a similar aiming experience » for athletes. Different colors had been tested at the World Archery Centre of Excellence in Lausanne, Switzerland. World Archery specifies that the evaluation of this test will eventually allow for longer-term changes to be considered in other competitions.
