Andorra consoles itself with the Freeride World Championships

Ski

A consolation for the Principality of Andorra. Doubly unsuccessful candidate to host the Alpine Ski World Championships in 2029 and 2031, beaten respectively by Narvik in Norway and Val Gardena in Italy, it has just been awarded by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) the organization of the first freeride world championships. They will take place from February 1 to 6, 2026 in the Ordino Arcalís resort, located in the Pyrenees. The competition will offer four categories: men's and women's skiing, men's and women's snowboarding, with only one run per athlete for the award of the world titles. It will bring together the 67 best freeriders in the world, selected at the end of a qualification process that began last May with the FWT Pro, FWT Challenger, FWT Qualifier and FWT Junior series. These first world championships will mark the official integration of freeride skiing and snowboarding within the FIS.
