Algeria announces free participation fees for athletes in the School Games

The heads of mission of the first African School Games, scheduled from July 26 to August 5, met in Algiers on May 19 and 20. The delegations of 51 NOCs from the continent participated in working sessions on accreditation protocols, accommodation and catering conditions, inter-site transport arrangements, the security plan, the fight against doping, media coverage, communication and medical protocols.

On the sidelines of this meeting, the Algerian Minister of Youth and Sports, Walid Sadi, announced that All participation costs for athletes will be fully covered by AlgeriaA decision welcomed by ANOCA, which will make these Games more accessible. "This strong gesture, unanimously welcomed by the 51 Heads of Mission present, guarantees access for all young people, regardless of their country's resources, to this great celebration African school sports, the organization welcomes. This unprecedented measure demonstrates Africa's capacity to promote a model of concrete cooperation, where equity and youth are at the heart of priorities.

A logistics system of solidarity air transport is also being studied in order to facilitate the transport of all delegations to the Algerian capital and the host cities. More than 3.000 young athletes, aged 14 to 17, are expected in Algeria this summer to compete in 25 sports disciplines.
