Alejandro Blanco unopposed for re-election to the WCC

Spain

There will be no suspense. The Electoral Council of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) has officially validated the candidacy of Alejandro Blanco, outgoing president and the only candidate to have come forward. Supported by the Olympic and non-Olympic federations, the 74-year-old leader will therefore be re-elected for a sixth term at the May 28 Assembly. He has been president of the WCC since 2005. One of the challenges of his next term will be to contribute to bring the Olympic and Paralympic Games back to Spain, with Madrid interested in the 2040 edition.
