African table tennis opens a new era with the Africa Cup

The African Table Tennis Cup will be held in Tunisia from February 25 to 27, 2025. The new president of the African Federation (ATTF), Enitan Oshodi, intends to make it the starting point of a fruitful mandate. "We are committed to make 2025 a year of transformation for African table tennis, he said in remarks reported by AIPS. This event marks an important moment. Tunisia has a history of successfully hosting high-level table tennis competitions, and I am confident that this year's edition will meet global standards in terms of logistics, hosting and competition management." Khaled El-Sally's successor, however, intends to go further, drawing inspiration from the recipe of WTT competitions, "innovate and introduce improvements that will make the event even more exciting and attractive for all stakeholders”.

This African Cup must therefore serve as a springboard to advance referees and coaches on the continent. “For the first time, a world-class referee with a gold badge will mentor our young international referees, points out Enitan Oshodi. This initiative will help raise the standard of refereeing across Africa. In addition, prior to the tournament, we will organise a level 3 coaching course, the highest level of certification for our coaches. This is a crucial step in equipping our coaches with in-depth knowledge that will, in turn, enhance player development across the continent.”

The ATTF President also set himself the goal "to increase the participation of a greater number of nations ». Reason why the instance was associated with Ethiopian Airlines as an official travel partner. "This will reduce travel costs for member associations, he rejoices. We hope to see the first effects of this partnership at the African Youth Championships in Lagos next July, and we are confident that it will encourage more teams to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations.”
