There is no doubt: Algeria will host the first edition of the African School Games next year. The result of a collaboration between the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the International School Sports Federation (ISF), the event officially received the approval and green light this week from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. It will take place from July 5 to 13, 2025. These first African School Games will be organized with the support of the Algerian Ministries of Youth and Sports and Education, but also with the support of the IOC to accompany young African talents until Los Angeles 2028 and especially Brisbane 2032. They will be followed on the continent by two other major events dedicated to young athletes: the African Youth Games in December 2025 in Luanda, Angola, then the Youth Olympic Games in 2026 in Dakar, Senegal. The creation of the African School Games was made official in July 2024 by a collaboration protocol between ANOCA and ISF, signed in Paris during the Olympic Games.
