Here we are! The kick-off of the first edition of the African School Games was officially given on Saturday evening at the stadium of May 19, 1956, in Annaba (Algeria). The competition will take place until August 5 and will bring together 1.700 athletes from 47 countries. Twenty-five disciplines will be represented. These first African School Games represent the culmination of a collective dream…We are witnessing the birth of a tradition that we hope will inspire future generations and help reveal the sporting talents of tomorrow on our continent. The ANOCA president recently presented the African School Games as " a major innovation that will allowidentify talents at an earlier age and to strengthen the links between the education system and the sports movement, a model which has proven itself in many countries with a strong sporting tradition ».
