Good move for FIFA. It has landed a new official partner for the most controversial of its global competitions, the Club World Cup. The 2025 edition in the United States (June 15 to July 13), the first in history with 32 teams, will be supported by Bank of America. The banking group has already been among the partners of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada since last August. It is even the official sponsor bank of the tournament. The 2025 Club World Cup will therefore be able to serve as a dress rehearsal for the 2026 World Cup. Another announcement from FIFA, still for the 2025 Club World Cup: the rules of the draw, scheduled for Thursday, December 5 in Miami. The 32 teams have been divided into four pots of eight. They were formed using the club rankings defined by each confederation, already used to determine the participating teams. Pot 1 consists of the top eight clubs from UEFA (4) and CONMEBOL (4), namely Manchester City (England), Real Madrid CF (Spain), FC Bayern München (Germany), Paris Saint-Germain (France), CR Flamengo, SE Palmeiras and Fluminense FC (Brazil), and finally CA River Plate (Argentina). Pot 2 consists of the remaining top eight European clubs. Pot 3 consists of the top six teams from AFC (2), CAF (2) and Concacaf (2), as well as the two remaining CONMEBOL clubs. Finally, Pot 4 consists of the remaining six teams from AFC (2), CAF (2) and Concacaf (2), as well as the OFC representative and the host country representative (Inter Miami CF).
