The 2027 session in Punta Cana

IOC

In 2027, the IOC members will discover a destination that is little known to the Olympic movement: the Dominican Republic. Meeting since Tuesday 3 December in Lausanne, the Executive Board has decided to propose the capital of the Caribbean island, Punta Cana, as the host city for the session in 2027. The idea was proposed by the Evaluation Commission for the IOC session, chaired by Singaporean Ser Miang Ng, after a feasibility study conducted on site last October. According to the official version, the commission was " impressed by the exceptional quality of the world-class facilities, combined with a clear focus on sustainability, as well as the strong support provided by the local authorities.” The proposal will be put to a vote, and most certainly validated, by the IOC members meeting on the occasion of their 144the Session, next March in Greece.
