15 World Championships awarded in one fell swoop

UCI

The members of the steering committee of the International Cycling Union (UCI) did not have the opportunity to be idle, Wednesday October 12, during the first day of their session in Doha, Qatar, on the sidelines of the Road World Championships. They proceeded in a single day to award 15 UCI World Championships, for the years 2017 to 2020. Proof of the desire to universalize cycling demonstrated by the UCI, these 15 planetary meetings were awarded to 11 different countries, including Turkey – a first –, Poland, the United States, Canada and Germany. Most notable fact: the organization of the Road World Championships in 2019 entrusted to Yorkshire, England, already chosen in the past by A.S.O for a Grand Départ of the Tour de France. Furthermore, the UCI announced that the Junior Track World Championships would now both take place at the same venue, the velodrome of the World Cycling Center, built near the UCI headquarters in the town of Aigle, in Swiss.
