Tokyo 2020 is ready to prove its winning assets

Tokyo, March 1, 2013 – Ready to demonstrate how the world will “Discover Tomorrow” if the world's most forward-thinking city hosts the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, a delegation from Tokyo 2020 rolled out the red carpet at the International Committee's Evaluation Commission Olympic today. The members of the Commission, chaired by IOC Vice-President Sir Craig Reedie, arrived at Narita International Airport. They will evaluate Tokyo with intense presentations and site visits on the agenda. The city intends to prove its qualities and its desire to host the Games during these four days of visit.

Tsunekazu Takeda, IOC member and president of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) and Tokyo2020, said: “It is a tremendous honor to welcome the IOC Evaluation Commission to Tokyo. Next week we will demonstrate why we can perfectly host the Games in 2020. We are ready for this moment and we look forward to showing our guests everything this fantastic city has to offer. »

Gilbert Felli, the IOC's executive director for the Olympic Games, arrived on a different flight but was also greeted by Takeda and Yasuhiro Nakamori, a member of the Tokyo Executive Council.

Tokyo Governor Naoki Inose welcomed the IOC delegation upon their arrival at the hotel which will host the IOC delegation from March 4-7 and will be used throughout the official visit.

The Evaluation Commission will visit the two other candidate cities Madrid and then Istanbul during the month of March.

About the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee

The Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee is the organization responsible for Tokyo's second consecutive bid to host the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The city of Tokyo, the thriving capital of Japan and candidate city for the Games of the XXXII Olympiad, established this Committee on September 15, 2011. Led by Tsunekazu Takeda, president of the Japanese Olympic Committee (OCJ), its Executive Council is composed of Olympic and Paralympic athletes and members from different spheres such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government of Japan, the COJ and the Japanese Paralympic Committee (CPJ).
