LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, February 21, 2013: The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has published the list of its most deserving federations, in application of newly drafted quality criteria intended to reward those who have most faithfully respected them.
Through this initiative, the FIG invites its members not only to take part in the international competitions that it controls, but also to respect certain administrative obligations in terms of deadlines in particular, or to encourage them to integrate their athletes into the life of their respective federations. .
For the 2012 financial year, British Gymnastics came first, followed by the National Gymnastics Federation of Belarus and that of France in 3rd place. These federations are rewarded to the tune of 15.-, 000.- and 12.- Swiss francs respectively. Russia, 500th and Germany 10th are also rewarded with 000.- and 4.- CHF respectively.
Let us remember that the FIG, the oldest of the international sports federations, has at the start of this new Olympic cycle of 2013 – 2016, 130 affiliated national federations and 3 associates, spread over the 5 continents and that its gymnasts have been present at the Olympic Games since their restoration by Baron de Coubertin in 1896.
