The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to announce two new additions to its anti-doping education and learning platform (ADEL) designed to enable Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) to educate young athletes on the importance of clean sport:
Courses on the ADEL platform for young athletes
Designed for athletes aged 11 to 15 who play sport at school or in a club, this new course introduces the concept of clean sport and allows learners to acquire the skills needed to overcome difficult moments in their sporting journey. Each module features members of the Sports Council WADA representatives who share their personal experiences of clean competition and encourage athletes to help create a positive and fair sporting environment for all.
“Since the publication of the first International Standard for Education, WADA has been committed to developing content that would help ADOs extend the reach of their education programs, particularly for ADOs that do not have the capacity to develop their own content,” said WADA Director of Education Amanda Hudson. “With the addition of this youth course, WADA’s education programs now cover all stages of the athlete pathway, enabling ADOs to educate athletes from the playground to the podium.”
Downloadable resources
Developed by a subgroup of the Education Committee From WADA, we have released four downloadable resources designed for young and talented athletes, their parents and athlete support personnel. These new resources cover the following important topics:
- Control procedures;
- The Prohibited List;
- Supplements; and
- The importance of speaking up in difficult situations.
“These new downloadable resources mark an important step towards improving the accessibility of clean sport education,” said Kady Kanouté Tounkara, Chair of WADA’s Education Committee. “Providing offline content is part of an inclusive approach that allows athletes, their parents and support personnel who may not have full-time access to the internet to stay informed and comply with the rules. Downloadable to a computer or mobile phone, these free resources allow learning anytime, anywhere, regardless of access to an internet connection.”
Further information
The new course and the downloadable resources are currently available in English, a French and Spanish. OADs wishing to translate the course or resources can submit a request via the ADEL Help Center.
Please note : Athletes under 16 must use a parent or guardian's email address to create an account on ADEL.
