The OCOG Paris 2024 turns out to be full of surprises. A few weeks before the Christmas holidays, he is preparing to take out of his gift basket a solid contingent of new tickets for the Olympic Games. For all sports and all sessions. Including the most requested of the program, where a sign nevertheless indicated sold out for months.
This new windfall of places, revealed at a time when those disappointed in the first phases were pinning all their hopes on the opening of a resale platform next spring, will not satisfy everyone. The COJO repeated this on Wednesday November 22 during an online press briefing: “ You will have to act quickly, because these new notes remain a rarity. »
But the offer is not small: more than 400.000 places for the Olympic Games, the vast majority of which (370) in the Paris region. A third of these places are offered at 000 euros and less. Nearly two thirds have a price of less than 50 euros.
The sale will begin on November 30 at 10 a.m. sharp, on the official Paris 2024 ticketing platform. This time, no draw, the sale will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. But, importantly, the rule of 30 tickets maximum per buyer will always be applied. The best served in the first two sales phases, whose account is already full, will not be able to try their luck.
All sports, therefore. And all the sessions. How ? The COJO explains it: the 400.000 and some new notes were found in “ refining the gauges of each competition site. » They had been secured to meet certain contingencies, imposed in particular by the IOC and its audiovisual subsidiary, OBS.
Examples ? Easy. The swimming race, where the places were all gone like in a dream, is putting 6.000 tickets back on sale at the Paris Défense Arena in Nanterre. Among the sessions concerned, the evening of July 28, dominated by the final of the 400m medley, where France will await a gold medal for Léon Marchand, the reigning world champion. Starting price: 4 euros.
Athletics, where the generous capacity of the Stade de France did not prevent disappointments by the thousands, found a slight second wind with more than 30.000 tickets. The most exciting: the evening session of August 3, with the end of the decathlon, the finals of the women's 100m, women's triple jump and mixed 4x400m.
In Versailles, horse riding is not the worst off in this new allocation with 14.000 places, for the three disciplines: eventing, dressage and show jumping.
Tennis is also doing rather well, with 24 new tickets at Roland-Garros, including a session costing more than 000 euros per seat to attend a men’s singles semi-final and the mixed doubles final.
Another good surprise: team sports. At the top of the list, basketball, with 37.000 new tickets in Lille for the group stage and 7.300 places at the Arena Bercy in Paris for the knockout matches. Rugby sevens benefits from the generous dimensions of the Stade de France: 7 new tickets, including seats for the men's and women's semi-finals and finals. Bingo. Football, finally, is offering 25.000 new tickets for the Parc des Princes, in Paris, and seats in the six stadiums in the provinces.
At the other end of the scale, fencing, judo, urban sports, and especially track cycling, take part in the party, but with greater discretion. Around 5.000 new tickets for fencing at the Grand Palais, just 2.000 for judo at the Arena Champ-de-Mars (but none for the heavyweight day), only 900 for skateboarding at Place de la Concorde (1.500 for breaking), and a microscopic contingent of 500 places for track cycling at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines national Vélodrome.
The ceremonies? They are also affected. The opening as well as the closing. Bingo again. And, incredible, in all categories of places, therefore at several prices: 90 euros, 250 and 500 for the first evening of the Olympic Games, 45 euros, 250 and 600 for the last. How much ? Asked by FrancsJeux, the OCOG initially responded “not not sure how to communicate the numbers", before changing his mind and putting forward some, but without much precision: a few hundred per category of places, but quite a few in total.
On Thursday, November 30, the COJO will also put tickets on sale for the Paralympic Games again, for sessions initially announced sold out, including armchair fencing at the Grand Palais.
Always good to know: a final sales phase, with still uncertain outlines, should be opened next spring. Before the resale platform comes online, announced for May or June 2024.
