Nothing is simple for the COJO Paris 2024 on the issue of ticketing. The first phase, selling in packs, sparked controversy. The second, single places, gave it even more momentum. The third, open this Wednesday July 5 at 10 a.m., promises to be calmer. But with no guarantee of not reviving discontent.
On paper, things appear more simple. This time, no draw to inherit a 48-hour purchasing window. The ticket sales platform opens mid-morning for everyone, without order of passage.
But the rest looks more vague. The COJO patiently explained it to the media on Tuesday July 4: the tickets offered to the public concern all sports. In total, just under 3 million places, including around 150.000 at the initial price of 24 euros. Cool.
But the method chosen by the organizers to sell off these stocks, consisting mainly of previously unsold tickets and places initially reserved for logistical contingencies (location of cameras, in particular), is sorely lacking in clarity.
From this Wednesday, July 5, the tickets offered on the platform concern exclusively events organized outside Paris and Ile-de-France: the preliminary basketball phase (24 to 200 euros) and the final handball phase (45 to 320 euros) in Lille, football matches in Nice, Lyon, Bordeaux, Nantes, Marseille and Sant-Etienne (24 to 200 euros), sailing in Marseille (24 euros).
« We start with a sale dedicated to the territories”, explains the COJO. Why not.
The rest, the places still unsold or released for the Paris and Ile-de-France events, will be put on sale later. “ Along the water », summarize the organizers. When ? How much ? Mystery. Faced with these questions, the COJO draws its eternal formula: “ We don't communicate about it"
We just know that the information on the date of sale of the different sports, “ along the water”, will mainly go through the Paris 2024 Club, whose number of members is currently approaching 4 and a half million.
Another clue: the number of places still available could disappoint many. “ Several hundred thousand places have been frozen and will gradually be thawed, explains the COJO. But they will sometimes be in very small numbers, especially for reduced gauge sports.. » For urban sports at Concorde, in particular, the stock looks slim. Same thing for track cycling at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines velodrome.
There would be around 4.000 places left for the opening ceremony, Friday July 26 on the Seine, but in category A. At full price: 2.700 euros. But the OCOG refused to communicate the date when they will appear on the ticket sales platform.
Last clarification: the quota of 30 tickets maximum per person – and 4 to 6 per session – introduced at the launch of ticketing, remains valid for this third phase.
