The Budapest bid team for the 2024 Games has been discreet about its marketing program. True to form, she launched the offensive one step behind her rivals in the race for the Summer Games. But she has just overcome a large part of her handicap all at once.
The Hungarian candidacy revealed on Thursday October 27 that it currently has 12 partners committed to its side in the Olympic and Paralympic adventure. Twelve at once, including a sponsor with a name still unknown, who wished to remain anonymous for the moment. Its partnership program was launched in June 2016.
Like its Parisian rival, Budapest has brought together a solid team of national partners from the private sector behind its project. Its group of official sponsors includes the car manufacturer Audi, Budapest Airport, the Budapest Transport Company, the Budapest Transport Center, the real estate developer Gránit Pólus, the design and construction company Graphisoft, the group of sale of corporate gifts Mid Ocean Brands, the financial products broker Provident Financial, the telephone operator Magyar Telekom, the low-cost airline Wizz Air, and finally the distributor of alcohol and sweet drinks Zwack Unicom.
In a press release published Thursday, October 27, the Budapest 2024 team notes that these private partners will support the candidacy not only on a budgetary level, but also through their expertise in some of the key sectors of the file, including transport, new technologies and telephony.
Comment from Budapest 2024 President Balázs Fürjes: “We can count on 12 fantastic major sponsors on board, all keen to show their support for Budapest’s bid. We expect more new partners to join the movement. This trend will increase significantly from February next year, when we will be able to benefit from much wider exposure, both nationally and internationally. »
The Hungarian bid team took advantage of this announcement to reveal the figures from its latest opinion poll. It reveals that two thirds of Hungarians admit that they would be “proud” or “very proud” if the capital were chosen to organize the Summer Games in 2024. A percentage which rises to 70% in the age group 18-33 years old.
