World University Games set back a year

The sporting year 2022 promises to be increasingly busy. FISU has announced the postponement of the next edition of the World University Summer Games by one year. They were due to be held in August 2021 in Chengdu, China. They are staggered by twelve months, but will be maintained in the Chinese city. In question, the world health situation and the restrictions of travel on a global scale. The dates of the event will be decided later. On the other hand, it is accepted that the name, Chengdu 2021, and the logo of the competition, will be kept. The postponement decision was taken jointly by FISU, the Chinese University Sports Federation and the Organising Committee for the 2021 World University Games, to “protect the safety and health of all involved, including athletes and spectators“.
