World Triathlon rolls out the red carpet

It’s time for the International Triathlon Federation (World Triathlon) to award its annual trophies. The body awarded its annual trophies on Saturday 21 January in Nice (France) during a gala evening at the Palais de la Méditerranée. The two most coveted awards, given to the male and female triathletes of the year, went to Norwegian Gustav Iden, Ironman world champion, and to Bermuda’s Flora Duffy, Olympic gold medallist in 2021 in Tokyo and four times world champion (photo above). American Chelsea Sodaro, 33, last year’s Ironman World Champion, was named best rookie of the year. A trophy was awarded to American Bob Babbitt for his entire career. Finally, the French team was called to the stage to receive a special trophy, dedicated to an outstanding performance, for the successes throughout the past year of Leo Bergere, reigning world champion, Vincent Luis, double world champion, Elise Marc, para-triathlon world champion, but also Dorien Coninx, Pierre Le Corre, Cassandre Beaugrand, Leonie Periault and Emma Lombardi.
