The road to the Paris 2024 Games has just become clearer for rowing. The sport’s international body, World Rowing, has unveiled the venues for the Olympic and Paralympic continental and final qualifying regattas. For each of the fourteen Olympic and five Paralympic boat classes, places will be awarded in three successive competitions. The first will bring together all the countries, with the 2023 World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia. The second stage will be continental: the Olympic qualifying regattas in Europe (Szeged, Hungary, from 25 to 28 April 2024), Asia/Oceania (Chungju, Korea, in April 2024), the Americas (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 14 to 17 March 2024), and Africa (venue to be determined, in October 2023). The continental qualifying regattas will enable a total of 80 athletes (64 for the Olympic Games, 16 for the Paralympic Games) to qualify for Paris 2024. Finally, a last chance to win a quota will be offered at the final Olympic and Paralympic qualification regatta. This will take place in Lucerne, Switzerland, from 19 to 21 May 2024. 112 places at the next Summer Games (96 for the Olympic Games, 16 for the Paralympic Games) will be at stake.
