World Half Marathon Championships postponed eight months

It is not a good idea for an international sports body to include an event planned in China in its calendar for the next few months. They are all postponed, or even cancelled, because of travel restrictions due to the health crisis. The latest one: the World Half Marathon Championships. World Athletics announced it via a press release: the world event, initially scheduled on March 27, 2022 in the Chinese city of Yangzhou, has been postponed by almost eight months. It will take place from now on Sunday, November 13, 2022. The international body specifies: the conditions of entry into the country, currently subject to a 21-day quarantine (with the exception of the Beijing 2022 Winter Games where the quarantine will be lifted for those vaccinated), may change by March, “but in order to provide certainty to athletes, coaches and member federations, the World Athletics Council has agreed to reschedule the championships to allow more time to relax existing travel and quarantine restrictions.” The last edition of the World Half Marathon Championships had already been pushed back several months. Originally scheduled for March 2020 in Gdynia, Poland, it was finally held in October of that year. The competition is held every other year.
