World Boxing to launch in Germany

World Boxing moves forward. The new international boxing body, created last April as an alternative to the IBA, has chosen the venue and dates for its first congress. It will be held on November 24 and 25 2023 in Frankfurt, Germany. This first World Boxing annual congress promises to be a decisive step for the new federation, as it will be marked by elections for governance, including the positions of president, vice-president, secretary general and members of the executive committee. All national federations that have joined World Boxing will be able to participate in the Congress and vote in the elections. World Boxing explains in a press release that it has already received over 40 nominations for the various mandates at stake, from 18 countries on four continents. All nominations will be submitted for validation to an independent panel of three experts. The final list of eligible candidates will be published next month, no later than 30 days before the elections. Member countries will have two or three votes, depending on the voting rules.
