World Athletics seeks new host broadcaster

The bidding is on. The International Athletics Federation (World Athletics) launched its call for tenders on Monday 13 March for an audiovisual production partner for all its competitions under the World Athletics Series between 2025 and 2029, including three editions of the outdoor World Championships. The first one has already been awarded to Tokyo, but the next two have not yet been awarded a host city. The partnership will begin on 1 January 2025. The designated broadcaster will be responsible for producing the images supplied to the national broadcasters of the competitions in collaboration with the international body. The selection process begins with an initial “Request for Information” (RFI) phase, which is designed to identify by 28 April media, both traditional and non-traditional, with the necessary capacity, technology, teams and experience. This will be followed by a more formal tender between early May and 9 June 2023, before a decision is announced before the end of 2023. World Athletics has teamed up with the British ITN Group since 2017 to produce its world events.
