Work has started

It is done. Finally. Sixteen months before the event, the rehabilitation and development work of the 2022 Games of La Francophonie was officially launched, last weekend in Kinshasa. The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi, himself took charge of the symbolic laying of the foundation stone at the Tata Raphaël stadium (photo above). The next Games of La Francophonie, initially planned for this year but postponed due to the pandemic, must be held in Kinshasa from August 19th to 28th, 2022. On the program of works, the construction of the athletes’ village, a complex of twelve buildings with more than 2 300 rooms to accommodate 4 000 people. The bleachers of the Martyrs stadium will be redesigned to accommodate volunteers, store sports equipment and serve as a dining hall for visitors. Finally, an interchange must be set up in Limete for hip hop, dance, juggling and giant puppet competitions. Delivery of all sites is scheduled for April 2022.
