Women’s Worlds in April in Poland

The AIBA is still suspended by the IOC, but it continues to move forward without looking back. The international boxing body, chaired since last December by Russian Umar Kremlev, announces that it has found a date, and above all a place, for its womens and youth category championships. The event will be held in Kielce, Poland, from April 10th to 24th, 2021. The choice of Polish city was endorsed by AIBA after a visit by Umar Kremlev on January 23rd, during which he met the president of the Polish Boxing Federation, Grzegorz Nowaczek. The two men agreed that it would not be necessary to install a health bubble for the Worlds, let alone impose a quarantine on boxers. The full support of the Polish government and the Sports Ministry will allow entry of participants without any restrictions, explained the new AIBA president, adding that the only requirement would be to test negative for COVID-19.
