A ray of hope for the world’s ice hockey elite. The women’s world championship, initially scheduled for 2020 in Canada but postponed due to the health crisis, should be held from May 6th to 16th, 2021. The new dates for the tournament have just been unveiled by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Initially, the World Cup was to take place from April 7th to 17th. It is therefore postponed for a month. It remains to obtain the green light from the Canadian authorities. The competition is to take place in two Nova Scotia cities, Halifax and Truro. A strict health protocol is planned to ensure the smooth running of the event. They provide regular COVID-19 tests, isolation of teams in a health bubble and a very small number of spectators. The option of going behind closed doors is still being explored.
