Women soon in number

The Seiko Hashimoto effect will not be long before the Tokyo Games Organising Committee. Japanese media report that, spurred on by its new President, the board will soon see the arrival of 11 new female members. Many of them are said to be former athletes with Olympic backgrounds. In its current composition, the board has only 7 women, for a total of 34 members, or a percentage of 20%. When she took over as President of the Games’ Organising Committee, replacing Yoshiro Mori, Seiko Hashimoto announced her desire to achieve 40% women on the board in the coming weeks.
