Valieva investigation finally closed

It’s about time. Seven months after the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, the investigation into the alleged doping case of Russian skater Kamila Valieva is finally over. The press service of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) told the TASS agency. The hearings can now begin before the RUSADA disciplinary commission, but the date of the hearing has not yet been announced. Last week, the Russian agency had suggested that the investigation was close to its conclusion and would be concluded quickly. Its director, Veronika Loignova, had justified the length of the procedure by the age of the young skater, under 16 at the time of the Beijing Games, who at the time of the events had the status of a protected minor athlete. As a reminder, the medals from the 2022 Winter Games team figure skating competition, where Russia won, have still not been awarded by the IOC.
