Be patient. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has announced in a press release that its decision on the Kamila Valieva case will not be handed down until early 2024. Initially scheduled for September 28, 2023, but adjourned to allow the parties involved to gather all the necessary documents, the hearing was finally able to take place on Thursday November 9 and Friday November 10. It was completed by closing arguments from all parties, namely the young Russian skater on the one hand, and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), the International Skating Union (ISU) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on the other. CAS will now deliberate. And it intends to take its time. Its “arbitral award” will not be notified to the parties until the end of January 2024. Until then, the final outcome of the team figure skating event at the Beijing 2022 Winter Games will remain in doubt.
