USOPC strong against boycott of Beijing Games

The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has not let the wind fall after statements by a State Department spokesperson on “discussions” about a possible boycott of the Beijing Winter Games 2022. The authority has once again taken a position, from Wednesday April 7th, against such a scenario. It did so through the voice of its president, Susanne Lyons (photo above), was quick to point out that the boycotts “have proven to have negative consequences on the athletes, while never responding to international problems in a satisfactory manner“. USOPC President insists, “For our athletes, the only dream is to represent the United States of America“. The day before, a spokesman for the US Department, Ned Price, suggested to the media that the United States would discuss with its allies a common approach to the failure of the Chinese regime to respect human rights. He had suggested that these discussions could raise the option of a boycott of the Beijing 2022 Winter Games.
