UEFA wants to reward fans

UEFA

Unprecedented. UEFA has announced its decision to offer 30,000 tickets to supporters of teams participating in the finals of European club competitions this season. The announcement was made on Monday 14 February by the continental body’s president, Aleksander Ceferin of Slovenia. UEFA said it wanted to thank the fans for their support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Champions League finalists will each receive 5,000 tickets. In addition, 8,000 tickets will be distributed for the Europa League final. On the women’s side, the Europa League and Champions League finals will each have a batch of 6,000 tickets to give away to fans. The choice of which fans receive these tickets will be left to the discretion of the qualifying clubs. But UEFA has made it clear that there is no question of rewarding the support or commitment of club partners or managers. According to a recent UEFA survey, European clubs have suffered cumulative losses of €7 billion since the global pandemic began.
