Two accredited people at the Games treated in hospital

Tokyo

The information came out this Thursday, July 29th, during the IOC and the Organizing Committee’s daily press briefing: two persons directly linked to the Tokyo Games, thus accredited, are currently hospitalized in Tokyo because of COVID-19. Their identity has not been revealed, nor their nationality, the IOC taking refuge behind the medical confidentiality. But Richard Budgett, the medical and scientific director of the body, assured that their condition was not considered serious. “This has no impact on the Japanese health system,” he said. According to Japanese media reports, the two people being treated at the hospital are not athletes. Masa Takaya, the organizing committee’s spokesman, explained that a meeting to follow-up on the sanitary situation was planned today.
