Twenty-three candidates for the Athletes’ Commission

The International Rowing Federation (World Rowing) has announced the list of candidates for its Athletes’ Commission. The Commission will be the first in history to have its members elected by their peers. The election will take place during the upcoming World Rowing Championships in Racice, Czech Republic, this year and at the World Rowing Championships in Saundersfoot, Great Britain. Twenty-three candidates have been registered by World Rowing (10 women and 13 men), including Canada’s Julien Bahain, bronze medallist at the 2008 Beijing Games with the French quadruple sculls. The Athletes’ Commission will be composed of ten members, six representing Olympic rowing, two representing para-rowing and two representing sea rowing. Five members will be elected by the rowers present at the 2022 World Rowing Championships, while the other five will be appointed by the Council.
