Turkey and Poland to host the world

The next Olympiad looks very European for the world athletics. Meeting since the day before, the World Athletics Council awarded Wednesday March 22 two major events of the post-Games Paris 2024. The World Team Walk Championships will be held in 2024 in Antalya, Turkey. The World Indoor Championships will be held in 2026 in Torun, Poland. With this award, Turkey has further established itself as a major player in international athletics. Istanbul hosted the European Indoor Championships this year, despite the difficulties caused by the recent earthquake. But the country has only once hosted a world event, the 2012 World Indoor Championships in Istanbul. Poland, on the other hand, confirms its position on the international scene. In recent years, it has organized the World Relay Championships in 2021 in Silesia, the World Half Marathon Championships in Gdynia in 2020, and the European Indoor Championships in Torun in 2021.
