Towards a postponement to the fall

The next edition of SportAccord, scheduled for the end of May in Ekaterinburg, Russia, seems to be on the edge. Raffaele Chiulli, president of SportAccord and GAISF, admitted in a podcast with AroundtheRings: Discussions have started with Russian organisers for a possible postponement of the international convention. According to the Italian leader, international sports federations will undoubtedly be very busy at this time of the year for qualifying for the Tokyo Games. More importantly, travel restrictions risk preventing many of the 2 500 delegates expected at SportAccord from traveling to Russia. The decision to postpone is expected to be announced in the coming days. The international convention could be postponed to fall 2021. The latest edition of SportAccord, initially scheduled for spring 2020 in Beijing, was initially relocated to Lausanne, before being definitively canceled.
