Three cities vying for the 2026 edition

The Gay Games does not know the crisis. No less than twenty cities had applied in January 2020 to organise the multisport event in 2026. The list of candidates was then reduced last March to eight finalists. They are now only three still in the race to win the competition: Guadalajara in Mexico, Munich in Germany, and Valencia in Spain. Gathered during the last weekend in general assembly, the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) dismissed Auckland, Brisbane, San Diego, Taipei and Toronto. The last three cities in the running will be visited by an evaluation commission in June and July 2021, if sanitary conditions allow. The decision will be announced at the FGG’s next general assembly, scheduled for November in Hong Kong. The last edition of the Gay Games took place in 2018 in Paris. The next one is to be held in Hong Kong from November 11 to 19, 2022.
