Thomas Weikert changes management

Thomas Weikert

Thomas Weikert (pictured above), the current president of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), will not seek a new mandate at the next elections, scheduled for November 2021 in Houston (USA). But the 59-year-old German leader may not leave the Olympic movement. He is one of the most serious candidates for the presidency of the German Olympic and Sports Committee (DOSB). According to the national media, his candidature is supported by 14 national sports federations, including some of the most powerful in the movement. The DOSB presidency has been held by Alfons Hörmann since 2013, but the former president of the German Ski Federation announced his decision to step down last June. He was accused by many of the DOSB staff of having installed a culture of fear in the national body. Elections for the presidency of the DOSB are due to take place on December 4th, 2021.
