Thomas Bach visits Japan

New journey in sight for Thomas Bach. Kyodo News reports that the IOC President is expected to visit Japan next month. On the program, a first stop on May 17th in the city of Hiroshima, devastated by an atomic bombardment during World War II, where the German leader will witness the passing of the torch relay. Then, the next day, a meeting in Tokyo with the Japanese Prime Minister, Yoshihide Suga. This trip by Thomas Bach to Japan will be the second since the start of the global pandemic, after a quick round trip last November, during which he notably visited the athletes’ village and the Olympic stadium (photo above). The IOC President is also expected to take the opportunity to meet with the new President of the Organising Committee, Seiko Hashimoto, and the Governor of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike.
