The youth card

The IOC is innovating. With a priority target: young people. The Olympic body has announced that the educational content offered to participants in the Youth Games is now available to all high-level young athletes throughout the world, aged 15 to 18. Called the “YOG Education Programme at Youth Sport Events”, it is now freely available on the official IOC website for International Federations, National Olympic Committees and organisers of sports events and championships. Since the first edition of the YOG, organised in 2010 in Singapore, almost 10,000 young athletes, as well as local youth at the various editions organised, have had access to the educational programmes offered alongside the sports competitions. These include athlete protection, performance enhancement, and support beyond sport and in the transition to the professional world. Athletes can watch videos, download applications, act out immersive scenarios and take quizzes. The IOC programme also provides access to online learning platforms, injury prevention exercises and even explores options for a smooth transition from competitive sport to the world of work.
