The Worlds are set to shine

D-Day for the world sport climbing championships. The last event before the Paris 2024 Games, where the discipline will count for a second time as an additional sport before becoming a more permanent fixture on the programme from the Los Angeles 2028 Games, they kick off this Tuesday 1 August in Bern, Switzerland. The sport’s international governing body (IFSC) has announced in a press release that the 2023 World Championships (1-12 August) will bring together a record number of 428 athletes from 54 countries. They will distribute 10 quotas for the Paris 2024 Games: two in the men’s and women’s sprint events, and three in the men’s and women’s bouldering events. A media boost for the event: the sprint and bouldering finals will be broadcast in Japan by NHK. In Europe, the 2023 World Championships will be covered by Discovery+ and Eurosport. In Switzerland, the host country, coverage will be provided by the public broadcaster SRF.
