The World Championships at five months from the Games

FINA has lifted the veil on the 2024 World Swimming Championships in Doha, the last of the Olympiad before the Olympic Games in Paris. They will take place from February 2 to 18, 2024. The dates were decided by the Council of the body and the Organizing Committee. The competition was originally scheduled for the summer of 2023, but was postponed after the 2021 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, were postponed by one year and then by another, and finally moved to the summer of 2023. In Qatar, the world event will distribute 76 titles in swimming race, artistic swimming, open water, diving, high-flying and water polo. The swimming race, artistic swimming and water polo will take place at the Aspire Dome, which will enter the record books as the largest indoor aquatic facility in the world. Diving will take over the Hamad Aquatic Centre, an indoor facility located 200 meters from the Aspire Dome. High-flying and open water will be held in front of the Museum of Islamic Art. With this decision, FINA has set a precedent by scheduling the World Championships only five months before the Paris 2024 Games. With Budapest 2022, Fukuoka 2023 and Doha 2024, the international swimming calendar will have three World Championships in the same Olympiad, in only 19 months.
