The race is on. The International Cycling Union (UCI) announced on Wednesday October 18, via a press release, that it had launched its call for bids for all the world championships to be awarded at the body’s next Congress, in September 2024 in Zurich, Switzerland. The list includes 31 world events, in all cycling disciplines, between 2025 for the most immediate and 2031 for the most distant. These include the World Road Championships in 2029 and 2030, and above all the World Cycling Championships for all disciplines in 2031. The first edition of the new world cycling event in XL format took place this year in Glasgow, Scotland. The second was awarded to the French department of Haute-Savoie. It will be held in 2027.
