No changes. Unlike the vast majority of summer Olympic sports bodies, the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) did not choose to follow the IOC Executive Board’s recommendation to reinstate Russian and Belarusian athletes in international competitions. At its annual congress in Barcelona on Sunday 24 September, the IBSF had the opportunity to decide the issue, less than three years before the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games. But it was not discussed, as the IBSF Executive Committee decided to extend the suspension of competitors from the two countries at war with Ukraine until further notice. The President of the Russian Bobsleigh Federation (RBF), Anatoly Pegov, explained to the TASS agency: “Our bobsleigh and skeleton skiers will continue to train and compete in Russia to prepare for international events when the IBSF makes a positive decision concerning our athletes.” The IBSF is chaired by Italy’s Ivo Ferriani, who is also President of SportAccord, President of the Association of International Olympic Winter Sports Federations (AIOWF) and a member of the IOC Executive Board.
